So I had a very very bad addiction to it. I gambled my student loans + credit cards totalling $40,000 and some change. I’ve stopped gambling all together besides the occasional lottery ticket here and there. The thing that basically got me out of gambling was finding another hobby to essentially make me money because to me it was all about the “chance” of winning something big and I think for a lot of people it’s that same feeling. My suggestion would be to find something like a side hustle or another way to safely make money to subdue that feeling of needing to go to the casino to try and win money. I used to go gambling every weekend and I once put $2500 in a single machine without realizing it and didn’t win anything. My biggest win was $12,000 on roulette and my biggest slot win was a little over $8,000 which unfortunately went back in the machine the next day. It’s a terrible addiction but the only thing that helped me was finding a hobby that brought me money because it gave me the feeling/sense that I didn’t need to go the casino to try and make money. (A job like 9-5 doesn’t count because I was still going working my security job while in school.) this has to be something your passionate about or maybe just a hobby etc. glad i stopped gambling.
