What do you think is the hardest part of recovery?

I am just curious about other peoples answer to this question? I would have to say dealing with feelings and grief head on without anything to try and numb my feelings anymore is my main one. Or even dealing with traumatic things you went through while using and now having to have to sort out those feelings too.

I would say the first 2 years. Rediscovering who you are and processing through trauma and grief. Doing that is the only way throughbut its damn painful. I drank to forget and to be someone else from a young age so it took A LOT of unpacking. Throw triggers in there and its a recipe for struggle. We spend years running from the things we now have to face and it takes an incredible amount of strength, but continuing to numb and hide is much, much more painful in the long run.
