Balancing Recovery with Parenthood

Reaching out to other parents in recovery… How do you balance self-care and meetings with family responsibilities? Recently started bringing my kids to the park during my morning calls with my sponsor - finding creative ways to make it work. Would appreciate any advice or shared experiences.

I lvoe this topic and I love the idea of going to a park with the kids while you talk with your sponsor. I dont have experience balancing meetings with kids, but I do balance work, life and recovery with 2 toddlers. Its an absolute shit show most of the time. But we do what we can each day and eventually I look back and realize we made it. I try hard to remember that there are 100 ways to make it work and we try and fail but tomorrow always starts a new day.

Its always inspiring when I see parents showing up with their kids. I know other people might not agree, but I see someone who is dedicated and just trying to make it work. Parenting is hard without the disease of addiction. The park is a great idea. If its too cold (damn MN) there are virtual meetings that might work with your schedule? I also try and remember that learning the skills of parenting and working through my own trauma is in itself recovery.
