Parenting and recovery

I am a parent with legal custody over my two kids. I have always had a struggle of being clean but I am happy I am now doing 2 years. Parenting is hard on it’s own, recovery is harder. Jumbling with the two at times feels less fulfilling and taxing. However, I have changed my perspective and you’re looking at a better and more involved parent. What has helped me is the therapy and continued exercises, what more wellness routines would you recommend?

Hi @alyssa, congratulations on your two years—that’s an incredible milestone, and you should be so proud! I hear you about the balancing act; parenting and recovery together are no small feat. It’s amazing that therapy and exercises are helping you grow into the parent you want to be. I dont have any realy good wellness routines unfortunately, but its something im working on! I seem to have made my whole personality being a mother. I know its not the best way to go about it but I love it. One thing that has helped is really truly trying to understand that this is all temporary, I cant get it back. So to cherish it. This is just a small piece of time.

Congrats! I have adult children but boy do I feel you. Its exhausting. All I can do now is rebuild all the damage ive done over their entire lives and support them in their own personal healing journey.
