After about 7 years of being sober, I realized that one particular practice was instrumental in my success: taking it one day at a time. Although it wasn’t done in isolation, this hallmark tradition was what sustained me. I can attest that each day presented addiction in a seemingly unique way, but with a focus on one day at a time, I was able to overcome its pull, day by day.
